About  63 percent of K–12 teachers use technology in the classroom daily . A new  survey  from the University of Phoenix College of Education found that daily classroom tech use is up from 55 percent in 2016. While a whopping 86 percent of educators indicate they use laptops in classrooms the most, the use of other tools is on the rise. About 58 percent of teachers use educational apps, 41 percent use social media and 21 percent use  3D printers . About  47 percent of teachers say they are embracing social media  to  collaborate with other teachers . Even with this increase in tech use — some of it innovative — 25 percent of teachers indicate they are intimidated by students’ knowledge and use of tech.

What Is It? Class Dojo is a communication app where teachers can share reports of their students to the parents. Reports of student's performance in class. Teachers, students and parents all have access to ClassDojo to see daily reports of progress and feedback. Although ClassDojo's main purpose is a behavior management tool. It aims to help the hard-to-reach students. Example of Point System Positive: Helping others, on task, participating, perseverance, teamwork, working hard. Needs Work: disrespect, no homework, off task, talking out of turn, unprepared. What is the Student's Job? Each student gets their own profile, where they can create an avatar that represents them. The teacher then runs the class through a tablet or computer. Giving positive or negative points (dojos) through out the day or lesson. In this blog post I will be reviewing and advertisement of a software (one of many) that teachers can use to teach and help students learn. This advertisement speaks intriguingly about how students are natural learners. But we often find our students in environment where learning does not happen naturally, but more forcefully.  She then questions the viewers, how are we using technology to develop creativity in the minds of our students? We need to embrace  natural learning. Students learn better when they are connect, playing and collaborating with their peers. Kids help other kids, who help them, learn. They go on to explain how we should transform devices into powerful engagement tools. So teachers will first, create a lesson plan and then integrate technology into that lesson in a way that will intrigue them and influence learning. Technology also lets students learn together. The Pro's and Con's of Technology in the Classroom

Pros -The kids are around technology constantly, making it easy for them to use. -can make it more fun -more memorable for students -more interactive (more and more kids these days are becoming visual learners) -technology makes it easier to ask and find answer to questions -economical way to interact with the world -more social interaction, helps students who are shy -helps them experience exotic settings and scenarios -encourages students to learn independently -higher IQ scores -special needs classrooms can go at their own pace -more organized -become content creators Cons -Brings distractions. -slower developing brains -with technology comes depression -continuous partial attention -spend more time planning lessons -costly -training is time consuming (but in my opinion, I don’t think we need it that much.
